Best period to travel to Oujda

Oujda enjoys a Mediterranean climate, with average temperatures ranging from 15 to 20°C. The hottest months are July and August, when the Chergui, a warm wind from the Sahara, blows in. To make the most of the beaches - around an hour away - and the heat, it's best to visit Oujda in spring or autumn. With temperatures ranging from 5°C to 17°C, travelling to Morocco in winter is also the ideal time to soak up the sun and enjoy some sporting activities.

A Taste of Authentic Morocco

Oujda is relatively unknown, yet one of Morocco’s most traditional towns, steeped in rich history. Pass through the gate at Bab Sidi Abedelouhabe and take a trip back to the 11th century. Inside, you’ll discover the Medina, the Great Mosque of Al Kabir and Souks. And to round the day off, take a walk in the shade along the palm trees in Parc Lalla Meryem.

Eastern Cuisine

The delicious smell of food coming from the Medina will certainly leave your mouth watering! With a diverse cuisine, make sure to try some of Morocco’s famous dishes such as couscous, honey pastries and Bakbouka. And whilst you’re in Oujda, don’t miss out on some of the local delicacies such as Msemmen, a small flay pancake made from semolina flour. It can be eaten hot for breakfast, plain or with butter, honey or jam.

A Place to Relax

Going to Morocco is always a great time to discover Moorish baths and relax in a traditional Hammam. After relaxing under hot steam, rehydrate with a delicious steaming mint tea. And for an escape from the city, discover the peaceful Sidi Yahya Oasis. With its tall trees, streams and small bridges, it's the perfect place to relax in the shade.

Sea, Caves and Forest

From Oudja, it is easy to get lost in stunning natural sites such as the Zegzel Valley. Surrounding by tall trees and orange groves are the Grotte du Chameau and the Grotte des Pigeons, caves famous for their carvings. The famous Saïdia beach is around 60km from the town. With its fine sand and crystal-clear water, it is one of the most beautiful beaches in Morocco, also known as "the blue pearl".
